Eye Exams Vanderbilt MI

Are you looking for eye exams Vanderbilt MI?

No matter how old you are or physical health, it’s important for everyone to have regular eye exams.  During a comprehensive eye exam your eye doctor will do many things including fit you with the proper corrective eye glasses or contact lenses. Your eye doctor will also examine your eyes for common diseases of the eye. Eye exams can also reveal other health conditions that you might not even be aware of yet, such as high blood pressure and diabetes.  A comprehensive eye exam will include a number of tests and procedures to evaluate the health of your eyes as well as the quality of your vision. Some of these tests are as simple as reading a standard eye chart, while others are more complex and include dilation of the eye and using a high-powered lens to examine the tissues on the inside of your eyes. Dilation of the eye is a painless and simple procedure where your doctor puts a small amount of dilating eye drops into each eye. This will cause short term blurriness and sensitivity to sunlight, so your eye doctor will likely send you home with disposable protective sun glasses after your eye exam.

If it’s been a while since you’ve been to the eye doctor, eye care professionals suggest that you have a complete eye exam every one to two years.  This may be more or less depending on your age, eye conditions you suffer from, other risk factors, and your general health. If you have children, the American Optometric Association recommends you get them an eye exam as early as six months, then again at around 3 and then before they start school. They also estimate that as many as 25% of school children are having vision issues that can affect their school performance. Even children with no vision issues or eye problems should have a regular eye exam at least every two years throughout school to detect for changes.  As we age, our vision changes and we become more susceptible to eye conditions that, if left untreated, can rob us of our vision.  If you live in Vanderbilt in Northern Michigan, you have plenty of reasons to protect your vision. Nowhere is more scenic and beautiful than in Michigan’s northern cities like Vanderbilt.  Vanderbilt is a small, close-knit community with fun outdoor recreational activities to enjoy all year long.
