Vision Correction

Here are the surgical procedures for vision correction we provide:

LASIK

As it turns out, more than 17 million people worldwide have had some form of laser vision correction, a class of surgeries where a laser is used to reshape the cornea to correct refractive errors. More specifically, every year approximately 400,000 Americans undergo LASIK vision correction.

Photo-Refractive Keratectomy (PRK)

Photorefractive keratectomy, or PRK, is a type of laser eye surgery used to correct mild to moderate nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. All laser vision correction surgeries work by reshaping the cornea, or clear front part of the eye, so that light traveling through it is properly focused onto the retina located in the back of the eye.

Intraocular Lenses (IOLs)

An intraocular lens (IOL) is the artificial lens surgeons implant to replace the eye’s crystalline lens that must be removed once it becomes cloudy. The main job of the IOL is to focus light onto the back of the eye (or retina),  (retina: the transmitter located at the back of your eye that sends the images to your brain)  just as a natural, healthy eye lens would.

Refractive Lensectomy

The main reason for a patient to receive a refractive lensectomy is to reduce their reliance on glasses or contacts. Refractive Lensectomy is a procedure unlike other procedures which try to correct the shape of the cornea. This process, rather than trying to reshape the cornea, actually replaces the lens with an artificial lens. Using the same technology that you would find being used in a modern cataract extraction, it is a relatively common procedure and is considered outpatient surgery.
